We are looking for an Industrial Designer who is an Anywhere There’s Work To Be Done type of person. What you will do:
As an Industrial Designer, you will be a critical part of a high-speed development team, focused on delivering impactful solutions:
- Solution-Based Ideation: Generate innovative concepts based on a deep understanding of competitive products and unmet user needs, ensuring a consumer-centric approach.
- Design Development: Bring concepts to life through rapid sketching, professional illustration, advanced CAD modeling, and hands-on, hand-built prototypes.
- Engineering Partnership: Work closely with our Engineering team to clearly communicate design intent and function through compelling visual storytelling and documentation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a core team member, collaborating with Product Marketing, Engineering, and Operations to drive products efficiently from initial concept through to final commercialization.
- Brand Stewardship: Help learn, define, and direct the Visual Brand Language (VBL) of our brands to maintain a cohesive, high-quality look and feel across our product lines and categories.
- User-Centric Design: Apply fundamentals of ergonomics and usability to create superior and intuitive consumer experiences.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor design and technology trends within the industry to continually push our product design forward.
- Front-End Research: Participate actively in consumer research, shop-alongs, and site visits to gain firsthand knowledge of consumer pain points and uncover new product opportunities.
- Project Management: Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing several concurrent projects and meeting aggressive deadlines.
What you will need:
- Education: BS, BA, or BFA in Industrial Design.
- Portfolio: The ability to demonstrate mastery of the product development process through a portfolio showcasing sketches, renderings, storyboards, CAD modeling, and functional prototypes.
- Experience: A robust background designing handheld consumer products, demonstrating a proven ability to proactively solve for consumer pain points.
- Work Ethic: A great work ethic and the ability to operate effectively and efficiently in a demanding, fast-paced development environment.
- Location: Willingness to work out of our physical office in Madison, WI to foster close team collaboration.
- Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
