JOB SUMMARY:
This is an opportunity to be immersed in the culture of a leading general aviation manufacturer, home to two iconic brands: Cessna and Beechcraft. In this role, you’ll collaborate with and learn from our experienced Industrial Design staff. The open office layout encourages cross-disciplinary teamwork with design, mechanical, and electrical experts driving new product development. From small single-engine aircraft to super-midsized jets, the design projects span a wide range. Your primary focus will be interior development, where you’ll integrate technology and human factors to enhance the cabin experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
At a minimum, fully understand and follow the project design brief and produce requested deliverables on time.
- Based on project scope, preform thorough research, ideation, concept generation, and design refinement.
- Support Human Factor mockups to inform design development.
- Ask questions, challenge the status quo, and bring a high level of enthusiasm and creativity.
- Be collaborative. Work through solutions with Engineering, Interior Design, and other technical groups and interns.
- Build engaging presentations that communicate your design journey and final solutions.
- There is much to learn in this 10-week experience - take advantage of as many intern events as possible and participate in facility tours at both east and west campuses.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, or other relative design discipline.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent visual communication skills
- Experience with Adobe Suite products, CAD modeling and rendering software
- Professional and diplomatic demeanor
- Strong sense of accountability and integrity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Time management skills to support multiple concurrent projects
- Ability to deal with change and work in a dynamic environment
- Proficient in use of standard Microsoft Office programs
Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.
Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.
Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
