SUMMARY
We are looking for a driven and passionate junior designer to join our team. As the largest glass tableware manufacturer in the world, we take pride in the design and development of iconic new glass products which are functional, beautiful and long lasting. The Junior Designer will take part in full-process industrial design of glassware, from creative new product concepts to developing refined and manufacturing-ready products, as well as graphic design of packaging, presentations, and other digital and print assets for our divisions in Food Service, Business to Business, and Consumer Goods (focused on the Americas region).
You will learn to become a glass expert - by working closely with our teams in New Product Development and Production - to understand the different manufacturing processes and how to design products for customers with a global reach. You will additionally work with highly skilled external glass blowers in NJ and PA to create real glass prototypes from CNC molds, as well as having the opportunity to learn basic glassblowing skills to help understand the subtle material qualities and possibilities of glass first hand.
You will be a bridge between the needs of our customers and the sales teams that represent them and the requirements of the production team, as well as communicating with marketing and New Product Development (product engineering) to develop imaginative new products which are easy to manufacture and go beyond the core expectations of the brief.
The Junior designer will also work closely with the Marketing Manager to assist with the development of social media graphics, content, strategy and management, including for Circularc - our new national glass recycling initiative.

- Respond effectively with compelling design proposals to design briefs for bespoke signature products for large national & global branded companies within the consumer products and food service spaces.
- Create product form design and/or decoration design in support of marketing initiatives. This includes new shape and concept art as well.
- Design and preparation of packaging & advertising graphics and Point of Sale materials for branded and private label products.
- Creation of Social media content, and assisting in social media management, strategy and growth.
- Research trend and competitive directions in product, decor and packaging design.
- Able to forecast national and regional design, color trends and consumer preferences.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

- Strong Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite and practiced knowledge in CAD programs including rendering are essential (Fusion 360 + Keyshot preferred; Solidworks, Rhino 3D acceptable).
- Strong Proficiency and attention to detail during every stage of the design process, including thorough research, sketching, ideation, experimentation, prototyping and testing.
- Previous experience in the design of glass, ceramics and / or tableware is highly desirable.
- Ability to consider and respond to design factors such as ergonomics, functionality, aesthetics, marketability and sustainability essential.
- Competent working knowledge of 20th century industrial design and a dedicated passion for the creation of practical and beautiful new products.
- Strong general computer skills including Google Docs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook essential.
- Experience / Familiarity with 3D Printing and CNC preferred.
- Strong graphic design, digital imaging and graphic layout skills preferred, including vector artworking, design of repeating patterns, and the ability to work within specified corporate design guidelines.
- Advanced creative & trend-minded individual with a passion for sustainability and a basic knowledge of environmental, social and economic impacts in industrial design.
- Well developed organizational skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects to ensure deadlines are met.
- Strong team skills with ability to professionally interact with department personnel in existing and cross functional departments.
- Effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas, and/or facts and recommendations effectively.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design / Product Design* with 3D Modeling experience required. Candidates who do not have a college degree, but who have an exceptional portfolio of work which demonstrates their creative potential may also be considered.
- Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.
- A Self - starter with the motivation to propose new projects and find ways to contribute to the design and marketing departments when not immediately busy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Feeling comfortable working in both corporate and manufacturing environments required.

- Office Environment primarily. Additionally, meetings and tours in the factory will be a regular occurrence, for which PPE is provided.
