Our well-known beauty client is seeking an Industrial Designer to work with their team on a freelance basis, ongoing, quarterly as budget permits. This role will be 40 hours per week, hybrid onsite, Tues and Wed. with the potential to also be onsite on Thurs. Mon. and Fri. are remote.
You will need your own laptop.
The Merchandising team is looking to internalize, concept, and handle industrial design capability that will support all brands by delivering an elevated and differentiated brand experience to consumers. The role requires an exceptional mix of innovation, creativity, problem solving via design, and a working understanding of FMCG marketing.
Industrial Designer Duties:
Work with Global Merchandising team to create and develop innovative and differentiate display design concepts for use as display guidance, or in the manufacturing of permanent and promotional merchandising projects for all brands.
Drive design that is both efficient and cost effective, in support of sustainable global fixture types and components.
Create and deliver complete design intent files and any required accompanying descriptive text, instructions, and images, for turnover to Global Procurement or the internal agency, or others as briefed, from which vendors in global markets can manufacture efficiently and to budget. Work with manufacturers when necessary to ensure standards of execution are met.
As required, upload approved design, any graphic design work, and other guidance documents as briefed, to the SharePoint.
Apply updates of graphic and industrial design to brand guideline documents, including graphic layout, modular counter design, finishes, counter layout, furniture design and aesthetic, digital innovations, and branding cues.
Develop and deliver region specific merchandising concepts that represent best in class execution.
When required, develop models, virtual and real, finishes boards, and fly-thru movies that convey ideas and design intent to global stakeholders.
Assist in department and business design reviews.
Maintain and manage an in-house and/or online finishes library of materials and printed effects.
Develop in-store display concepts for launches, promotional areas and events, new door openings, counter and promotional spaces, as required.
Work with internal graphic designers and external agencies on the art and graphic design elements needed to add graphic realism to fixture and POS design ideas.
Bring high awareness of trends in merchandising innovation, and being up to date with current in-store execution innovations globally, and able to convey findings to the team.
Must have:
4+ years experience with in-store merchandising
Fluency in CAD and 3D rendering software Architectural or Industrial Design qualification preferred.
Fluency with DropBox and PowerPoint.
Graphic design capability/working knowledge
Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
Have experience or a knowledge of sustainable materials and their use in design projects.
Ability to project manage jobs and tasks
Nice to have:

Ability to be nimble, and to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities for varying brands and classes of trade.
Detail and deadline focused.
A creative interest with an exceptional aesthetic.
Able to work autonomously.
