Industrial Designer – Outdoor Gear

Location: Greater Kansas City Area (Full-Time)

We’re excited to offer a full-time opportunity for an Industrial Designer specializing in Camping and Outdoor Gear to join our team in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you’ll play a key part in creating innovative and high-quality camping products for leading brands in the outdoor industry. As a member of our collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, you’ll help shape a broad range of essential outdoor gear—from tents and sleeping bags to backpacks, camping furniture, coolers, headlamps, lanterns, flashlights, and more. You’ll bring your expertise to every stage of the design process—from initial concept to concept finalization—while contributing to a wide range of projects designed to disrupt the industry.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop products such as tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, camping furniture, coolers, headlamps, and more.
Focus on both soft goods and hard goods design, creating functional and visually appealing products.
Develop 3D models using SolidWorks for product development and concept development.
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to bring ideas from concept to final product.
Keep up with global trends and color theory to inform design choices.

Qualifications:

1-4 years of experience in industrial design, preferably in outdoor or durable goods.
Degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
Strong aesthetic sense and problem-solving skills.
Experience with SolidWorks and rendering programs like Keyshot.
Good communication skills and the ability to explain design concepts clearly.
Interest in CMF (Color, Material, Finish) and industry trends.

Preferred Experience:

Previous experience in the outdoor industry or a personal passion for outdoor activities.
Experience with designing durable goods in the outdoor industry
Love of outdoors and an active lifestyle
