Job Description:
The Industrial Designer – Decorative Lighting assists in the design and development of lighting products from concept to production. They originate and develop ideas to design the form of manufactured products through the direction of the Design & Development Lead and Senior Director of Design & Development.
Critical Success Factors
- Assist in the development of product from concept and drawing to prototype and product
- Assist purchasing all samples and materials to be used in product development
- Evaluate design ideas based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and client specifications
- Integrates findings and concepts through sketching design ideas. Present designs to Design & Development Lead and discuss needs for modification
- May build simulated models, using hand and power tools and various materials
- Demonstrate exceptional design and layout skills for production material
- Demonstrate high skill level in conceptual layout, color schemes, and knowledge of current trends

Objective
- Craft compelling and innovative ideas to align with market need
- Develop product from concept and drawing through to prototype. Coordinate and finalize product details with the international Engineer tea
- Identify purchased components and help in vendor selection. Perform detailed research for components that can be used in prototypes or produc
- Collaborate with the Design & Development Lead and Product Managers in reviewing, suggesting and approving product ideas that are being designed to meet needs of customer bas
- Identify samples, materials and vendors needed to be purchased during the product development stage.
- Based on designs, develop drawings in SolidWorks and /or work with Design & Development Lead to draw the product to verify / ensure dimensions, size, part compatibility and functionality.
Requirement
- Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design Degree or a closely related area of study.
- Minimum 2-8 years of relevant work experience. Portfolio required.
- Highly creative with strong visualization skills (sketching, photoshop, 3D rendering) to communicate innovative ideas.
- Organized and detail oriented with strong project management skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency using SolidWorks in a professional work environment is a must.
- Demonstrated ability to work through tight deadlines while producing quality, professional work.
