JOB PURPOSE or JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Industrial Designer will play a crucial role in the development of new furniture products, from concept to production. This individual will be responsible for creating innovative designs that align with the company’s brand, customer needs, and manufacturing capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of aesthetics, a deep understanding of materials and production processes, and the ability to translate design concepts into market-ready products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate innovative design concepts for new furniture products, considering functionality, aesthetics, and user experience.
- Work hands-on with prototype generation, material evaluation, and experimental design and execution.
- Research and recommend solutions, initiate actions, and follow through on engineering change orders (ECO) related to existing product improvements.
- Monitor and ensure processes for new product introduction and existing product improvements are completed.
- Prepare 3D design conceptual drawings to present to stakeholders.
- Compile technical product documentation and internal drawings for new products and existing product Improvements.
- Define product construction through drawings and detailed specifications.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Marketing, and Production, to bring designs from concept to reality. Participate in design reviews and provide input on manufacturing processes and quality control.
- Initiate and follow up on testing for new products and product improvements which includes soliciting feedback on functionality and marketability of products.
- Collaborate with other departments and team members on details and product selection for trade shows.
- Attend and interact with current and potential dealers, end users, and suppliers at trade shows.
- Continue development of personal and professional skills through formal and informal training.
- Ensure work assignments are completed accurately and within set timeframes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel is approximately 15% annually.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience and/or Training:
- 2-4 years of experience in industrial design, preferably within the furniture or consumer goods industry.
- 2 -4 years of experience reading and interpreting documents, such as technical specifications and drawings.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Revit, AutoCAD) and 3D modeling tools.
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and ergonomics.
- Excellent sketching, rendering, and visualization skills.
- Ability to translate conceptual ideas into practical and marketable products.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and materials.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A portfolio demonstrating a range of successful product designs.

Technology/Equipment:
- Familiarity with CET & rendering software.
- Proficiency working in Microsoft Office Suite.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Design or Engineering-related field or equivalent experience.
Experience and/or Training:
- 1 – 3 years of fabrication and/or assembly experience.
