Goddard is looking for an
Industrial Designer with 4-6 years of experience to join our team. This team member will be part of a multidisciplinary workforce, developing meaningful experiences and insightful product solutions. You are a creative, detailed, conceptual problem solver who is enthusiastic to use your design toolkit. You look forward to getting your hands dirty and learning by doing. Medical device design experience is desired but not required.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be an integral part of our interdisciplinary team, working alongside human factors, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. Your responsibilities will include:
- Employ analytical skills to assess, evaluate, and interpret user needs and business objectives, translating them into innovative design solutions that meet both user requirements and strategic business goals. Conducting comprehensive research to gather insights that inform the design process.
- Creating detailed 3D models and renderings using industry-standard software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Developing prototypes and iterating designs based on feedback and testing.
- Presenting design concepts and guidance to clients and stakeholders.
- Supporting or conducting testing in laboratory, shop, or field environments when required.
- Supporting prototype builds with assembly, modifications, and finishing.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
About you: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in industrial design or a related field.
- A portfolio showcasing previous design projects and process documentation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to embrace learning opportunities daily, whether it's a new product, technology, tool, methodology, or standard.
