We’re looking for a talented PACKAGING / STRUCTURAL DESIGNER who is eager to innovate, create, and contribute to our success. Whether you’re a recent college graduate or a seasoned professional, if you’re ready to design, collaborate, and excel, this is the opportunity for you. We are seeking a Structural Designer who will focus on creating innovative and functional packaging solutions for a wide range of products. This role is centered on the structural design of boxes, using materials of corrugated cardboard, paperboard, and other substrates.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and Development: Create structural designs for corrugated packaging, ensuring that designs meet customer specifications, cost requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Prototyping and Testing: Develop prototypes of new designs, conduct tests for strength, durability, and functionality, and make necessary adjustments based on test results.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team to understand customer needs and provide design solutions that enhance product presentation, protection, and marketability.
- Graphics: Utilize design software to work graphic elements into structural packaging designs, ensuring that branding, artwork, and labeling provided by our customers meet their specifications and enhance the overall appearance and marketability of the product.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met, and design quality standards are upheld.
- Cost Optimization: Evaluate and recommend cost-effective design solutions by optimizing material usage and manufacturing processes without compromising on quality or performance.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to production teams during the manufacturing process to ensure design integrity and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of designs, including specifications, revisions, and testing results, and prepare detailed technical drawings for production.
- Innovation: Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies in packaging design to continuously improve and innovate product offerings.

What We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have experience in packaging engineering, die line creation, and 3D modeling, with a strong understanding of packaging materials and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop structural packaging solutions for various products.
- Create prototypes, technical drawings, and die lines.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure design feasibility and efficiency.
- Conduct material analysis to optimize packaging design for cost, durability, and sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in Packaging Science, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Experience in structural design for corrugated packaging.
- Technical & Graphics Skills: Proficient with Esko ArtiosCAD, Esko Studio, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and SolidWorks.
- Computer Skills: Capable of using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on innovation and practical application in design.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to use a tape measure and other measuring devices.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of design and documentation.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
- Creativity: Demonstrated creativity and a keen eye for design aesthetics, combined with the technical ability to translate ideas into practical solutions.

We are not seeking applicants with a background in graphic design or illustration for this position. The focus of this role is on the structural integrity and functionality of packaging, not on visual or graphic elements.
Pay Rate: Salary / Non Exempt / salary open - based on experience
