Role Overview
As Senior Industrial Designer, you will own the design process from concept to commercialization. You’ll lead a small design team while working hands-on with engineering, development, and executive leadership. The ideal candidate blends creativity with practicality, thrives in ambiguity, and brings the confidence to guide product direction without ego. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape a growing product portfolio and influence the future design language of the brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead industrial design efforts across multiple product lines, from early concept to final handoff
- Drive creative problem-solving that balances vision with manufacturability, cost, and sustainability
- Translate briefs and insights into meaningful, consumer-first design solutions
- Collaborate closely with engineering and international development teams across hard goods and soft goods
- Present product concepts and decisions clearly to cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders
- Ensure all designs meet regulatory, quality, and safety standards
- Create sketches, renderings, prototypes, and tech packs throughout the product lifecycle
- Mentor and guide junior designers, supporting a collaborative, iterative design culture
- Contribute to shaping the design team’s workflow, tools, and internal process
Who You Are
- A strategic and hands-on designer who has taken products from ideation to commercialization
- Experienced in leading or influencing creative direction with a clear, confident decision-making style
- Passionate about making meaningful products, especially for families or active consumers
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, startup-like environments where process and structure are evolving
- Skilled across both hard goods and soft goods, including CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred), injection molding, and textile-based design
- Open-minded and collaborative, with excellent communication skills—especially with non-design stakeholders
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7+ years of experience in product/industrial design (preferably consumer products, juvenile gear, or outdoor equipment)
- Prior experience with CAD (SolidWorks strongly preferred) and physical prototyping
- U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship available)
- Ability to pass a background check (due to user testing with families)
- Willingness to work across time zones and travel as needed (10–20%)
- Preference for candidates located in, or willing to relocate to, Salt Lake City, Utah (relocation support available)
