RK & Associates, Inc., doing business as Escon Builders, is a general contracting firm based in the Bay Area, licensed and DIR-registered, with a focus on commercial, institutional, and public works construction. We work closely with school districts, municipalities, and developers to bring functional spaces to life. We're currently seeking a contract-based Industrial Designer to support the interior layout and design of a mid-sized warehouse project in Alameda.
Job Summary:
The Industrial Designer will contribute to optimizing the functionality, efficiency, and visual appeal of warehouse and office interiors. This includes layout planning, component design, and collaboration with our architectural and construction teams to ensure practical and buildable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop design concepts for warehouse interior elements, storage systems, and built-in furnishings
- Produce high-quality 3D models, technical drawings, and renderings using CAD software
- Ensure designs comply with ADA standards and safety regulations
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to align with construction goals
- Provide material recommendations, design revisions, and prototyping support
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field
- 3+ years of professional design experience, preferably in warehouse, industrial, or construction settings
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino, or Fusion 360
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work on multiple phases of a project
- A portfolio showcasing functional, real-world design experience
- Recent graduates with strong portfolios are encouraged to apply
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with public or institutional projects
- Familiarity with California building codes
- Understanding of DFM principles and sustainability in design
Contract Details:
- Start Date: Immediate
- Duration: Based on project scope (est. 2–3 months)
- Pay: Competitive hourly/project rate (based on experience)
