Position Overview
Recteq is seeking a creative and technically skilled Industrial Designer to help shape the future of grill innovation at recteq. This role will be instrumental in driving product improvements, leading new product development, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure an exceptional user experience from concept to customer.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Analysis & Innovation
- Analyze and optimize existing product designs to improve functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
- Design and develop innovative new products that align with brand identity and customer expectations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, finishes, and competitor offerings.
Voice of Customer & Ideation
- Partner with CS to gather and synthesize Voice of Customer (VOC) insights.
- Translate customer pain points and usage patterns into actionable design improvements or innovations.
- Serve as a creative and technical resource for design ideation, prototyping, and refinement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal teams including Quality, Sourcing, CS, Marketing, and Operations.
- Develop visual aids and design documentation to support marketing, training, and customer education.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure clear and repeatable design processes.
Quality & Process Improvement
- Utilize root cause analysis tools to identify product quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, usability, and reducing returns or rework.
- Evaluate supplier processes to identify operational risks and opportunities for performance improvement.
- Identify and implement design and packaging enhancements to reduce cost, waste, and damage in transit.
Recommended Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in consumer product design, preferably in outdoor or kitchen appliances
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360), Adobe Creative Suite, KeyShot or equivalent rendering tools
- Strong prototyping and hands-on design skills (3D printing, foam modeling, etc.)
- Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) principles and material selection (plastics, metals, wood, etc.)
- Excellent communication and visual storytelling skills
